SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS & TALLADEGA NIGHTS
N.C. MUSEUM OF ARTYou might could say that Southern Culture on the Skids has been auditioning for this N.C. Museum of Art gig ever since the release of Dirt Track Date. Unless there’s a Russ Meyer flick about a surfing rockabilly musician/secret agent who lives in a swamp, it’s hard to imagine a better cinematic match for the band. It even gives new meaning to their cover of T. Rex’s “Life’s a Gas” on their recent, brilliant Countrypolitan Favorites. All the vroom-vroom fun begins at 7 p.m., with tickets $12 for adults, $6 for kids 7-12 and free for the wee ones. Rick Cornell

THE MODERN HOUSEWIFE
CARRBORO CENTURY CENTERYou have a 1950s house to keep clean and meals to cook for a family of four. Do you have the proper dress and heels combo to wear while doing it? The AV Geeks are here to help you. The Modern Housewife is a compilation of seven short advertising films from the ’50s and ’60s that give archaic (and therefore hilarious) advice to housewives. The program begins at 7 p.m. and costs $4 for adults, $2 for kids. For more info, visit www.avgeeks.com or call 247-7752. Megan Stein
