CAROLINA DESIGNER CRAFTSMEN
STATE FAIRGROUNDSTrue craftsmanship has been in scarce supply for centuries, as it properly applies to an era when people had to make their own dyes and weave their own fabric. Today, Carolina Designer Craftsmen’s program Masterworks encourages such craftsmen, and this year will showcase the 14 participants’ works as part of its 38th Annual Fine Craft and Design Show. Among the featured artisans are musical instrument-maker Archie Smith, weaver Mary Vandergraft, decorative textile makers Beverly Dawson and Lynda Sanders, mixed-media artist Louellen Vernon-White, African spear-maker Tim Britton and Colombian jeweler Robert Vengoechea.
