FILM SCHOOL
LOCAL 506Greg Bertens thought his band had made it when Film School released its Beggars Banquet debut last year. Then the band was beaten and robbed of a van full of equipment. The band collapsed in the ensuing acrimony. The new lineup features a more muscular rhythm section with plenty of background static and drone tempered by the vocal counterpoint of bassist Lorelei Plotczyk. With Division Day and Eulogies at 10 p.m. for $8-$10. Chris Parker

THE NIGHTHAWKS
HIDEAWAY BBQIt’s not as if D.C.’s long-standing Nighthawks needed any more cool points. They’ve been at it for more than 30 years, with the same lineup for almost all of the latter half. But then they appeared on an episode of The Wire, taking them into cool’s stratosphere. Tickets are $15, and the coolness commences at 9:30 p.m. Rick Cornell
