Your friendly local alternative weekly is sponsoring a major showcase of local music with a full range of artists including Pura Fe, International Orange, John Howie Jr., Katherine Whalen, Brown Mountain Lights, Nathan Asher, The Moaners, International Orange, Samecumba, Shallow Be Thy Name, Go Machine, Brother Yusuf, STRANGE, The Cartridge Family, The Ghost of Rock, The Corey Parker Band, The Meek, Spectac, Kaze, DJ Forge and Shelly B and the Cadillac Stepbacks.

It’s all going on from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. in beautiful downtown Carrboro at the ArtsCenter, Cat’s Cradle, and a nice little stage in the parking lot. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at Schoolkids, Record Exchange, the ArtsCenter and Cat’s Cradle before the show or at the door.

Woven through the music sets will be the presentation of the first Indy Music Awards, which honor the work in the past year by what our readers and critics have picked as the best in local jazz, rock, hip hop, bluegrass, folk, country, gospel, latin, international and blues.
