Chinua Hawk and Miri Ben-Ari are simultaneously riding mega waves of buzz all the way to Chapel Hill. Already named Billboard’s Indie Artist of 2004, Hawk is a velvet-toned songwriter combining soul torch songs with modern pop. Though the masses may not know Ben-Ari by name, her violin flair is the emotional tug on Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” and the building block of Twista’s “Overnight Celebrity.” Equally praised by West and Jay-hova, she is definitely the leading light in hip-hop violin. This season finale of the Carolina Union Activities Board concert series is at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at UNC-CH’s Great Hall. Tickets are $10, $5 for students.
