Since the early 1960s, Doc Watson has crafted a singular sound vision on the acoustic guitar, melding the flatpicking and fingerstyle techniques into the American-DNA of folk, country and bluegrass. If his classics albums weren’t enough of a testament, from 1963’s Folkways debut to the Will the Circle Be Unbroken duology, he was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys last year. The native rambler makes an appearance as part of the Carolina Union’s Performing Arts series, 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at UNC-CH’s Hill Hall. Tickets are $35, $22 students; call 962-1449 or visit www.performingartsseries.unc.edu for more information.
