For eight years running, a small coterie of Orange County-based lovers of experimental film has brought us the Hi Mom! Film Fest. This year’s program includes half a dozen fine Triangle films mixed in with a very strong lineup of international entries. Always still a loose and unpretentious affair, this year’s program includes a heavier dose of politically themed efforts than usual (see story on page 65). Much of the festival will transpire at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, but we particularly recommend catching Friday night’s 9 p.m. outdoor screening at the Rosemary Street parking garage in Chapel Hill. The outdoor show is $5, others are $3 and $4; passes are available for $15. Go to www.himomfilmfest.org for details.
