Regina Hexaphone, Band of Annuals
The Pour HouseOur own Regina Hexaphone and Salt Lake City’s Band of Annuals both sweep generous textures around already graceful melodies: Led by Sara Bell’s easy air, Regina Hexaphone clutches pop music at the core, while Band of Annuals carefully builds outward from a sturdy country bedrock. Though the young unit claims six members, its studied restraint is uncommon in upstart alt.country, augmenting acoustic moans and shuffles only to fulfill the song, not the players’ self-perceptions. Watch an old favorite and a band that’s bound to become one. The 8 p.m. bargain costs $5. Grayson Currin
