KRISTIN HERSH
CAT’S CRADLEAs part of Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh was the first American artist to be signed to 4AD in 1986. That, of course, made her a prime candidate for Yep Roc, whose lineup includes other aged indies and punks Nick Lowe, Paul Weller and John Doe. But her excellent Yep Roc debut, Learn to Sing Like a Star, moves with a textural freshness that proclaims she’s still reinventing her light-meets-dark approach and not resting on 20 years of laurels. Tonight, she’s got a band and strings. The McCarricks and Dolorean open. Tickets are $12 for the 8:30 p.m. show.Grayson Currin
