FIONA APPLE
KOKA BOOTH AMPHITHEATRE–Fiona Apple is more than the snotty soapboxer whining her way through acceptance speeches, more than the tarty temptress prancing around sleazy videos in her skivvies, and much more than the angsty femme-gem she passed for in 1990s. Of course, you’re excused if you disagree: She did wait eons to put out a post-2K record, she did lose control on stage at the VMAs, and she did cash in those Lolita chips when she writhed around with underwear models in the saucy music video for “Criminal.” But, on her latest record, Extraordinary Machine, Apple shows a bit ofgaspmaturity. In the ’90s, she sang the songs of a teenager: pretty but testy ballads about being young and frustrated and attractive and conflicted and depressed and out-of-control. Today, Apple sings about growing up, finding her footing in the world, finding love, and finally getting graceful. Ms. Apple’s full-grown songs will be on display for $39.50-$59.50 at 7 p.m. –Robbie Mackey
