After banishing his youngest daughter for failing in a contest of words declaring her love for him, King Lear delegates the kingdom to his two selfish eldest daughters. In the meantime, Britain’s ruling class becomes increasingly plagued by deception and betrayal that eventually leads to war and catastrophe.
