ARGENTINE FESTIVAL PART II
DUKE WEST CAMPUSThe ADF is pleased to present two duos, Gabriela Prado and Eugenia Estévez, and Edgardo Mercado and Susana Tambutti (pictured above), in the second half of the Argentine Festivalseriously pleased, indeed, and relieved. After the Argentine agency Marca Argentina pulled the companies’ funding to travel to Durham, it looked as if this year’s festival would miss out on the highly anticipated performances. However, in rallying spirit, the in-kind donations and challenge grants of SunTrust Foundation and American Airlines and the efforts of dance supporters in the Triangle have put them back on the schedule. And after all this debate, the companies should prove to be nothing short of what we’d expect from South American dance; with the vivacious and explosive energy rich in Latin flair, all the drama should prove to have been worth the while. In Reynolds Industrial Theater, Prado and Estévez will perform at 7:30 p.m. followed by Mercado and Tambutti at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at www.americandancefestival.org.
