MEYMANDI HALLBob Weir’s RatDog started in 1995 as a duo with bassist Rob Wasserman, who has since left the band. Now a six-piece with horns and keys, RatDog remains largely inessential, serving mostly to revisit The Dead’s deep impression upon music with plodding, rootsy takes on the classics. Still, Weir’s unorthodox rhythms and wobbly voice hold their intrigue, even if this has all been done better thousands of times before. Tickets are $25-$50 for a 7:30 p.m. start. Grayson Currin
TRIANGLE TAIKO
N.C. MUSEUM OF HISTORYFormed by the non-profit Nippon Club of the Triangle, Triangle Taiko performs Taiko music, a high-powered, traditional form of Japanese drumming. Currently, the group is 32 members strong and there’s a standing invitation for anyone with a passion for drumming to join. The free show starts at 3 p.m. Dan Strobel
