Cat’s CradleSome chastise Baltimore electronics party wizard Dan Deacon as an electronic composer so lacking in ideas that he hides behind bombastic dance beats, zany props and ridiculous puns. And I suppose that’s pretty much right: Deacon’s humor-heavy, long-form, beat-driven pieces don’t shatter any forms. Instead, they choose to celebrate lots of them, gathering house, rock, funk, disco, chants, Raymond Scott and a handful of highbrows into a mess carefully calculated for sweat.
