ELVIS’ GRAVE
RIALTO THEATERGet out your blue suede shoes … and your chain saw? Local filmmaker Dave Hughens is bringing his camp-horror classic Elvis’ Grave out of hibernation and back to the silver screen in honor of the 30th anniversary of the King’s passing. Described as a “Southern gothic musical,” the film conjures up Presley’s spirit with a set of grisly murders of Elvis impersonators and a pilgrimage to Memphis. But Hughens’ film really gains merit from its off-kilter combo of campy gore (its trailer spoofs 1974’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre), macabre atmosphere (remnants of Rocky Horror peek through) and hip-swivelin’ Viva Las Vegas-style fun. The film will also be screened at the ROFFEKE Rock Film Festival in Kenya, making this a worldwide celebration. Showtime is at 7 p.m. and tickets are $8.
