Countdown Quartet
THE BERKELEY CAFE–Josh Preslar is fresh off the road with bluesboy Slick Ballinger, who moved to Mississippi as a teenager to soak up the Delta flavor of the music he loved. Preslar brings his blues band back to the club that he’s helped establish as a local jamming outpost thanks to his long-running Wednesday open mics. The always partying Countdown Quartet sits atop this bill, with young Patrick Sweany–an Ohio guitar slinger with the light touch of Chuck Berry and the casual roadhouse voice of a lost Sun Records pal–pulling in for a break. Sweany plays Schoolkids Records in Raleigh at 5 p.m. and Berkeley at 9 p.m. –Grayson Currin
