Although it’s still spring, this film has “summer movie” written all over it. It’s got gambling, a bet to see who can manage to stay single the longest, and an endless number of sperm bank and testicle jokes. Jerry O’Connell stars as Michael Delaney, whose mission in life is to marry off his last remaining bachelor buddy in order to claim the pot. While Tomcats doesn’t pretend to be highbrow, the gags aren’t the caliber of There’s Something About Mary or American Pie, and even as a situational comedy, the lack of a real plot will probably bother anyone who watches more than Blind Date or The Real World. Bill Maher and Garry Marshall appear in brief cameos. See “Opening Friday” for theaters and times.
