Walnut Creek AmphitheaterIt’s difficult to age gracefully, to not cling to the past or simply go through the motions. At least two decades have passed since Aerosmith’s last good album, and they’ve released only one album of new material in the last dozen years. But who cares if they’re coasting? They remain a classic purveyor of Stonesy raunch, with their own smoking six-string slinger, a strutting, sunken-cheeked singer and a British-blues-based rumble. They’ve got a decent collection of hits (which, as this tour is sponsored by Guitar Hero, you’re likely to hear). Maybe it’s best for everyone that they’re not flogging another weak album buoyed by the two songs they put some effort into. For lifelong blues vets ZZ Top, it’s long been a case of nothing failing like success. After Eliminator‘s heavily synthesized blues boogie made the grizzled dudes icons, they just couldn’t quit the mechanized beats. Maybe that changes on their forthcoming Rick Rubin-produced album, advertised as a return to the grittier “La Grange” sound. Pay $29.25-$181 at 7:30 p.m. Chris Parker
