CHESS: THE MUSICAL
PROGRESS ENERGY CENTERA musical stage is an unlikely setting for the dark and haunting effects of the Cold War, making Chess: The Musical an unpredictable production. Created by Tim Rice and former ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Chess is a story of competition, romantic and otherwise, between two chess champions, an American and a Russian. First released as a concept album following the tradition of Rice’s work in Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita, Chess produced a number of hit songs, including “One Night in Bangkok” and “I Know Him So Well.” N.C. Theatre presents their production of this award-winning musical in Memorial Auditorium. For more info, visit www.nctheatre.com or call 831-6950. Megan Stein
