Throwback musicians The Water Callers will host the show and perform original and traditional songs, which are rooted heavily in country and Americana. The show begins at 7 p.m. on the Southern Village pavilion lawn (rain location is Market Street Books). Admission is free. For more info, visit www.southernvillage.com or call 967-4934. Megan Stein

HUNGER HAS NO VACATION
DROP-OFF LOCATIONSWhen school is on break, so are the one or more free meals that low-income children normally eat at school. The Food Bank of Central and Eastern N.C.’s Summer Food Service Program, however, was created so that children can receive nutritious meals during summer vacations. The Victim Services Unit of the Durham Police Department has teamed up with the Food Bank in Durham for a summer food drive through Aug. 1. Donate money at www.foodbanknc.org; see our Act Now calendar for non-perishable food drop-off locations; contact Victim Services’ Lukas Strout at 560-4404 ext. 261 or lukas.strout@durhamnc.gov for more information.
