For the past two decades, Sugar Hill recording artists Austin Lounge Lizards have been serving up C&W and bluegrass licks with a tongue-in-cheek lyrical approach, to deliver their goofy, spirited brand of family-style musical humor. With eight albums to their credit (sample titles: Creatures from the Black Saloon and Highway Cafe of the Dammed), the Texas five-piece has survived member changes and musical fads to continue doing what they do best: pokin’ fun at cowpokes and all that’s sacred to the Lone Star State and the South in general. Favorite song title: “Jesus Loves Me (But He Can’t Stand You).” Whoop it up this Saturday, March 16, 8 p.m. at the Carrboro ArtsCenter. Call 929-2787 for details. –Angie Carlson
