How many of us have felt cheated of our own nostalgia when favorite pop songs get used by marketers to endorse cars, appliances, cat food? StreetSigns’ resident choreographer Peter Carpenter explores the themes of memory, pop music and the management of loss in Pop Sadness, which will run from June 7-11 at the Swain Hall Studio 6 Theatre at UNC-Chapel Hill. The premiere work uses kinetic modern dance, song and theatrical scenes to capture a cast of characters in their struggle to remember. Tickets are $10 for the general public, and $7 for students and senior citizens. For details, call 960-4299.
