Goodbye, Titan; Sub Verso

The CaveRaleigh quartet Goodbye, Titan doesn’t stretch the instrumental post-rock trope stated and restated by Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky and a legion of quiet-loud-louder followers, but they do renew it with passionate delivery. Guided by aggressive guitars and gilded by thrashing drums, these cinematic scores seem metal-plated, touched lightly by the heavy grace of bands like Isis and Neurosis. Meanwhile, Connecticut’s Sub Verso suggests starry-eyed kids with arenas in mind and a mix of The Replacements, Jimmy Eat World and Fugazi in memory. Also, slow-burning comprovisational troupe Boat Burning. Pay $5 at 10 p.m. See www.caverntavern.com. Grayson Currin
