NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
NEIGHBORHOODSNeighborhoods all over the country will join forces with their city police departments to fight crime by throwing a nationwide party. National Night Out was established 24 years ago as a fun, effective and inexpensive way to reduce neighborhood crime. Durham will join in with block parties, cookouts, parades and exhibits, and contests to unite neighborhood communities and heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention. Last year, Durham ranked No. 11 among similar-sized cities for its participation in National Night Out, and it hopes to move up this year.
