MEYMANDI CONCERT HALL–Oh R., don’t let it bring you down. You can fly, baby: On a recent tour stop in Austin, the University of Texas’ branch of Feminists of Color United expressed their outrage at R. Kelly, who has 33 outstanding indictments and is awaiting trial for child pornography involving an infamous sex video in which he is accused of having sex with a minor. There has been no word on when he will go to trial, but this does present an opportunity to see him as the triumphant auteur behind the awe-and-astonishment-inspiring Trapped in the Closet series. This is the Light It Up tour, so one has to ponder if double-drug entendres from a dude possibly staring at serious time (but probably not) are daring or just dumb. Or maybe that’s the crux of Kelly’s career we’re analyzing. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $55-65. –Grayson Currin
