“Beauty is truth and truth beauty,” wrote ode-master John Keats. The poet obviously never stepped foot in a salon. Truth is about the farthest thing from beauty in Venus Beauty Institute, a tale about four lovely women who make their living at a Parisian spa. Written and directed by Tonie Marshall, the movie swept all this year’s major Cesar awards, and it stars French leading-lady Nathalie Baye, ingenue Audrey Tautou, Mathilde Seigner and Bulle Ogier. Romantic encounters, one-night stands and attractions of all kind abound in this flick, many of them, of course, only skin deep. See “Opening Friday” for details.
