What’s lonelier than one poorly attended election? Two poorly attended elections.

The turnout was puny for the Oct. 6 elections in Wake County, Raleigh, Cary and Durham: Just over 4 percent voter turnout in the Bull City and a whopping 11 percent among all Wake County voters, even with a hot school board race.

Durham and Wake voters, many of you get to try again: Durham has its general election for City Council and mayor, while the Wake County School Board and Cary Town Council District A races have one runoffs.

In Orange and Chatham counties, there are pivotal town board and mayoral elections in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough and Pittsboro, as well as an important contest for Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education.

Orange and Chatham voters, can you put your eastern neighbors to shame? Of course you can. We trust that you will.

A reminder about Indy endorsements: We don’t endorse in unopposed races.
