Your headline asks: “What’s so scary about Durham?” The answer is simple. What is so scary about Durham is the media’s portrayal of the city. Can you believe that there are actually newspapers that claim to be both “local” and “progressive” that when doing a feature story on Durham illustrate that story with a picture of two young boys with what appears to be blood dripping from their hands? No wonder people are afraid of Durham. The media portray us in such a biased way.
