Who are all of these people with their misplaced adulation of Jesse Helms (Letters to the Editor, July 23)?
Helms was an unabashed racist who did everything he could to deny millions of American citizens their constitutional rights. He didn’t “follow his conscience.” How could he? He had no conscience.
