On March 28, Duke University Student Government passed a resolution opposing Amendment 1 by a 32-0 vote. The vote was a response to Rep. Paul Stam, who in February publicly said, “If you think that Duke is widely in opposition to this amendment, you probably don’t get out much.” This vote rejects Stam’s statements and similar assertions that Duke is not fully committed to equality.
The Jack Crum Conference on Prophetic Ministry will focus on defeating Amendment 1 at an all-day event Saturday, April 14, from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. at Fairmount United Methodist Church, 2501 Clark Ave., in Raleigh.
Binkley Church, 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill, is holding a commitment/ recommitment ceremony on Saturday, April 28, for any couple, gay or straight, who wants to show respect for all relationships.
