I love the oft-overlooked Wrightwood Park in Durham precisely because of its overlookedness. The playground equipment is tucked away in the pines. The shelter house is small, with an old fireplace and questionable bathrooms. Even in the height of summer, the baseball field is rarely used except by dogs chasing Frisbees.

I trekked over to Wrightwood today, and other than the sound of cracking tree branches, it was silent and empty.
