Picture the world before Twitter, Facebook, email, or even frequent internet use. The recent concept of a newspaper personals ad was considered very hip and cutting edge, as were we. I answered his ad (Companion wanted…) and he met me at the now gone Seventh Street restaurant in Durham, on the little wooden bench that sat out front. He passed my ten second blink test. We have been together ever since. Twenty-three years of marriage and two grown children later, I still find myself as madly in love as after those first ten seconds.
