Savannah is our second Rhodesian Ridgeback after a lifetime of retrievers, and was far and away the most stubborn, toughest, worst puppy ever, so watching that alpha oppositional pup morph into this regal, loving, smart companion was a major surprise. I think of her as the ideal cat – independent but obedient, loving but not sloppy, clean, and disguised as a big dog! Savvy watches TV avidly, any animal show or dog movie – the whole movie – following any animal face around the screen, and reacts emotionally to soundtracks with aggressive or tense music, barking a protest. Tuvan throat-singing drove her out of the room. Savvy regularly meets her fans on the Tobacco Trail, accepting their flattery with as much grace and modesty as befits her royal personage.
