When Krista Cathey, owner of local baby boutique GreenPea Nursery, first started thinking about a “green” business, she planned to work with homeowners to help them create healthier spaces. She quickly discovered that the people most affected by repeated exposure to the myriad chemicals in daily American life are our children, and she felt it important to give parents more options. Organic product lines have been gaining popularity, but there really weren’t any one-stop-shopping options with broad appeal. Hundreds of hours of investigation and careful assessment later, she launched www.GreenPeaNursery.com to fill the void. And just a few months afterwards, in December 2008, she opened her adorable boutique on Salem Street in historic downtown Apex.
Shoppers “ooh” and “aww” about the adorable finds tucked into every nook and cranny of the second floor store. And since opening, Krista says customers share variations on the same refrain: “It’s so good to have a place right here where I can see and touch the organic items I want! Thank you for opening!”
GreenPea Nursery is a one-stop resource for just about anything to do with your baby or toddler, from furniture and nursery decor, to clothing and toys, bedding and bathtime, strollers and gear, toys and skincare (for both baby and mom). In addition, GreenPea Nursery has partnered with Cheryl Brewer designs for custom nursery decor with organic fabrics and non-toxic decorator styling, and with GO MOM! of GO MOM, Inc., for moms who want help with the avalanche of new “stuff’ that arrives along with baby! If you need a unique baby gift, have a child under age 3, or one on the way, you’ll be glad you paid a visit to GreenPea Nursery. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
