I met Ladybird almost four years ago to the day. I didn’t want or need a dog, but somehow she chose me and wasn’t going to have it any other way. I even hopped into my car and drove 3 miles down the road before impulsively turning around. That was it. She has been with me ever since. Ladybird has never pulled anyone from a burning building, or chased down a purse snatcher, and can’t even catch a squirrel. But, she has taught me how to be an adult and shown me what having responsibilities are like. She has loved me unconditionally and, in turn, I’ve learned to do the same. We are growing up together. I owe so much to this beautiful little creature, mostly my sanity, and can’t imagine a world without her. Jenn Eastman, Hillsborough
