Every Gift…a Work of Art
Originally from New York, Nancy Kittay, owner of Somethin’ Else Gallery, in Chapel Hill, has a deep appreciation for whimsical art. “I have had an appreciation for art that makes me smile for as long as I can remember.” Nancy’s desire to combine the work of local artists with seldom seen American artists has fueled the creation of a truly unique gift boutique, with an emphasis on customer service.
Wendy Costa, from upstate New York, exemplifies the style of Somethin’ Else. Her funky and whimsical designs adorn trivets, pill cases, handbags and wallets. These designs have been commissioned by such clients as Neiman Marcus, Stuart Weitzman, The Smithsonian, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Disneyland, as well as numerous galleries and boutiques worldwide.
Your smile will not fade as you gaze upon the work of Daniel Patrick Kessler, an artist from the Washington DC area. He is known for his folk art, Red Dog paintings, colored animals and city scenes. His works include five Presidential commemorative paintings of the White House and a folk art rendition of the White House used by President and First Lady Clinton for a 1996 Christmas card. His work can be found in corporate and private collections internationally.
The artwork at Somethin’ Else has a “feel good” quality about it. Sarena Mann’s one of a kind papier-mâché flying women are no exception. They communicate a spirit of beauty and freedom. Some are bright and playful, others reign from grace and joy; yet others speak to our soul.
It is certainly worth a trip to the beautiful countryside of Chatham County to see Somethin’ Else, where every gift is a work of art.
Somethin’ Else is located 3/4 mile south of Cole Park Plaza on 15-501 North. We are in between The Home Team and Curves.
