The First Annual Capital City Brawl takes over Raleigh’s Dorton Arena this week, when over 40 men and 8 women step into the ring to prove just how, well, tough and bad they are. (Greensboro’s version of the same event is pictured above.) According to the Brawl promoters, the referee for the event is a seasoned professional and former Tough Man competitor who will be focusing–with the usual laser-like attention of victims of head trauma–on the safety of contestants. That means that the rules will be strictly enforced: No kicking or wrestling (or licking, either, we hear), “just slugging.” Contestants will compete in three one-minute rounds and judges will score each round on a 10-point scale. Along with a trophy and bragging rights, $3,500 in prize money is up for grabs–enough to get the trailer tricked out right good! If watching Tonya Harding kick Paula Jones’ butt on TV got you worked up, come out to Dorton and see your neighbors go at it April 5 & 6 at 8 p.m. Call 1-866-84-BRAWL for details.
