Joe Bryan. A businessman from Knightdale, Bryan is seeking his fourth term on the board, where he has served as chair and vice chair. Bryan was formerly mayor of Knightdale and served on the Town Council.

John Burns is an attorney from Raleigh, who chaired the city’s Environmental Advisory Board.

Matt Calabria, an attorney from Fuquay-Varina, co-chaired the Legislative Committee of the N.C. Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He serves on the Student Affairs Advisory Board and the Young Alumni Council at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Paul Coble previously served as Raleigh mayor and on City Council. He ran unsuccessfully for state Senate in 2002, and is seeking his third term on the Commission.

Rich Gianni, an incumbent, is the CFO of a technology startup company. From Cary, Gianni was unanimously appointed to the commission this spring as replacement for Commissioner Tony Gurley, who resigned to take a different government job.

Jessica Holmes is an attorney for the N.C. Association of Educators. She is from Cary.

Sig Hutchinson is the president of his communications firm. He is the former chair of the Triangle Transit Authority and currently chairs the Open Space & Parks Advisory Committee for Wake County and the Advocates for Health in Action board. Hutchinson was formerly president of the Triangle Greenways Council.

Phil Matthews, a businessman from Garner, currently chairs the Wake County Board of Commissioners and is seeking his second term on the board. He served on Garner Town Council for eight years.
