After nearly two months of radio silence from the most influential lobbying group in North Carolina politics, the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce has finally released a statement on HB 2.

First reported by Time Warner Cable News, Chamber CEO/president Lew Ebert sent a letter to Chamber of Commerce members that offered three recommendations: to match North Carolina anti-discrimination law with protections regarding employment and public accommodations at the federal level outlined by the Civil Rights Act, to restore the state “cause of action” for employment discrimination that HB 2 eliminated, and to allow private businesses to set their own rules as long as it follows that law.

Ebert gave an interview with Capital Tonight that airs at 7 PM; TWC says that in the interview, he called HB 2 a “distraction.” More good news for Pat McCrory.
