If there’s one universal, redeeming quality about Fox’s American Idol, it’s that we’re more likely able to brag about knowing someone famous–or at least where the famous person used to eat lunch, pre-fame. What ever happened to 2003 American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, anyway? That’s the best part about the Clay Aiken story: He was the runner-up, the No. 2. So it’s tempting to think it was the pride of his hometown fans that helped hoist him to mega-success, post-Idol. Those fans will see his blue eyes twinkle and his hair expertly gelled Friday, Aug. 5 at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Cary’s Regency Park. Oh yeah, and he’ll sing like a bird. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $32.50 and $55.
