Hurricanes captain Rod Brind’Amour was sent home early from the team’s three-game road swing after he re-aggravating a lower body injury against Vancouver. ‘Canes coach Paul Maurice said he would ‘get some treatment over the next four or five days.” The official press release may be found here.

Brind’Amour was not visibly injured after any play during last night’s game against the Canucks, and actually exceeded his average ice time for the past several weeks, playing just over 16 minutes. However, the ‘Canes staff ruled him out for the Phoenix game and sent him back to Raleigh. The ‘Canes recalled Jakub Petruzalek, Albany’s second leading scorer, to take his place.

Brind’Amour joins several of his teammates on the List of Vague Injuries: Scott Walker is nursing an ‘upper body injury” and Niclas Wallin has been out for a while with a ‘lower body injury” as well. Dennis Seidenberg sticks out like a sore thumb; his ailment has been identified as a groin injury. Since Maurice reassumed the helm of the Carolina coaching staff, the injury list has become less and less specific for reasons unknown. Some say that knowing where a player has had a history of injuries gives opponents an unfair advantage; some say that coaches simply don’t want the public to know and like to keep it in-house. Mo’s motives…who knows?
