
N.C. Central had a tough assignment in its season-opening women’s basketball game at Maryland, and the Eagles will pretty much have to chalk up the visit to experience.
Lynetta Kizer’s 23 points led four players in double figures for the Terps – who are ranked No. 21 in the coaches’ poll – en route to an 88-39 win over the Eagles in the teams’ first meeting Saturday night at the Comcast Center.
Tianna Hawkins added 15 points, Diandra Tchatchouang 11 and Lori Bjork 10 for Maryland.
Freshman Joanna Miller scored 15 points in her first collegiate game for NCCU, while Latoya Bennett chipped in seven with four rebounds.
The Eagles will play another game in Maryland, on Monday night at Morgan State, before returning home on Wednesday to take on Campbell.
