Ice and snow won’t stop an estimated five thousand adult Harry Potter fans from converging on downtown Raleigh this Saturday for Wizard & Wand, according to a press release from the event’s organizers.
The children’s-book-themed event is for adults only, because that is where we’re at as a culture, we guess. Drinking-age wizards will swarm Fayetteville Street in full Potter-world regalia to quaff Butterbeer and Goblet of Fire shots (you just know it’s going to be Fireball whiskey) at participating establishments such as Coglin’s and Isaac Hunter’s Tavern. There will also be live music from “wizard rock band” The Blibbering Humdingers, magic by Harry Potter lookalike Shaun Jay, games, trivia, prizes, and more.
For the record: while we’re in favor of Nazi-punching, it’s still not OK to punch a drunk guy dressed as a wizard in public on a Saturday night, no matter how much you might want to. Tickets are still available at www.wizardandwand.com.
Really didn’t appreciate the negative connotations throughout the article. Sounds like an event that could have been covered in a really interesting way instead of having an article about it just putting it, and the adults who love that fandom, down.
