Kidding, of course. But Greg Paulus, Duke’s senior point guard, seems to have metor been rumored to be in connection withevery sports league across America.

Now, ESPN is reporting that Paulus might play quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines next season after reports earlier in the week indicated he worked out for the Green Bay Packers.

Paulus was also interviewed on ESPN’s PTI Thursday and was coy about whether or not he’ll play football next year but said that he had worked out for the Packers after basketball season ended and that Michigan had offered him a chance to start. He also indicated that academics would weigh heavily in his decision making, which is important because the NCAA would have to clear his transfer to Michigan.

The NCAA is fairly strict about these type of transfers and academics would likely be the deciding factor. Since Paulus did not redshirt, he is eligible for a fifth season in another sport at a different schooland this is keyas long as he enrolls in a graduate program that Duke University does not offer.

A standout quarterback at Christian Brothers Academy, Paulus led his team to a 42-3 record and set several state passing records and was recruited by Notre Dame and other top football programs.

Michigan, coming off a 3-9 season and a spanking at the hands of rival Ohio State, is desperate for a star quarterback to slide into coach Rich Rodriguez’s system after the Wolverines whiffed on recruiting phenom Terrelle Pryor last season.

My best guess: Paulus will look into playing professional basketball at some level (probably overseas) and also measure the interests of NFL teams since he could technically enter his name into the NFL Draft. If none of those options seem realistic, he’ll transfer to graduate school at Michigan and start at quarterback.

Duke coach David Cutcliffe offered Paulus a spot as a receiver but could not offer him a starting position at quarterback. Duke returns senior Thaddeus Lewis, who has passed for 6,735 career yards and 47 touchdowns.

Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski benched Paulus in favor of freshman Elliot Williams and sophomore Nolan Smith after Duke lost to UNC and Boston College in February.
