CAMERON INDOOR STADIUM/DURHAM Duke will open its women’s basketball season a little late, with both of its ACC Triangle rivals already having three games under their belts.

Tonight’s opponent for the No. 3 Blue Devils, who have been to the NCAA Elite Eight each of the previous three seasons, is Presbyterian (1-1) in the first meeting between the two schools.

The Blue Hose have already had a nice win this season, prevailing in a 49-46 shocker at Clemson six days ago.

And Duke will be without the services of junior guard Chloe Wells (leg), junior forward Richa Jackson (knee) and redshirt freshman forward Amber Henson (knee) as the Blue Devils look to win their 14th straight home opener.

That happens without much trouble, as the Blue Devils roll 84-45.

Tricia Liston and Haley Peters pour in 21 points each and Chelsea Gray chips in 12.

Karlee Taylor has a season-high 14 for the Blue Hose.

Duke shoots 52.3 percent to Presbyterian’s 45.7, wins the rebound battle 35-21 and commits 15 turnovers to 30 for the Blue Hose.

Duke coach Joanne P. McCallie: “Tricia has been doing this so much. I have a lot of confidence in her, and she can find stats all over the place. I thought she was really good, particularly in the second half. Against their zone we were a little bit immature — a lot of dribbling and not crisp with our ball movement. When a team sits in a zone for 40 minutes that’s something you have to mature on how to execute, but I thought Tricia was one of the players who really did that.”

Presbyterian coach Ronny Fisher: “They’re the third-ranked team in the country for a reason and they’re very, very talented. They shoot the basketball real well and they’re so big. We’ve played a lot of teams that have size, and you can play our zone and keep it out of the middle. But when you have size and the ability to shoot the ‘3’ like that it’s very difficult to defend.”

What does it all mean?
That Duke is very comfortable putting away outgunned opponents in guarantee games.
