The Carolina Mudcats have been on a downhill slide for much of the second half so far, and tonight’s meeting with the Chattanooga Lookouts did nothing to change that.

Jesus Castillo allowed just four hits over seven innings, leaving the game with a 5-1 lead and watching his team hold on in a 10-6 victory over Carolina at Five County Stadium.

The contest, in the second game of their current five-game series, was Carolina’s third straight loss. The Mudcats are 7-15 in the half and currently in last place in the Southern League.

Juan Francisco (pictured) got the Mudcats on the board in the seventh with a solo homer, and Todd Frazier added his own solo shot in the eighth.

Shaun Cumberland and Logan Parker had two hits apiece for Carolina.

Matthew Klinker (3-1) gave up three homers in his first loss as a Mudcat.

Game 3 of the series is Friday night at 7:15, with Camilo Vazquez (2-1, 4.85) going against Chattanooga’s James Adkins (3-6, 5.11) in a battle of lefties.
