The Carolina RailHawks will face intrastate rival Charlotte Eagles in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will be played on June 15 at 7:00 p.m. on Field Two at WakeMed Soccer Park. The RailHawks will blunt the chagrin of not being able to play the match on the main stadium field, which is currently undergoing its annual sod replacement, by charging $5 admission for all tickets and selling $1 draft beer.

The official RailHawks press release also notes that should Carolina defeat Charlotte, they would face the winner of the CASL Elite-Charleston Battery match in the next round. The RailHawks would be wise to remember that the last time they found themselves looking ahead to an upcoming Cup opponent was last year, when the opportunity to host a match against the Chicago Fire was scuttled when the Wilmington Hammerheads came into WakeMed and stunned the RailHawks by defeating them in the second round of the tournament.
