N.C. Central has played a lot of big-time opponents on the road in this, its third basketball season in Division I.

Tonight, the Eagles get to be the favorites at home for once.

LeVelle Moton’s 1-7 squad will try to break a five-game losing streak tonight at 7, when the Cougars from Carver Bible College come to McLendon-McDougald Gym to help celebrate Legends Weekend.

There’s not a whole lot of information out there about the Cougars, except that the Atlanta school is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association and the basketball team is 0-12.

There’s one local player on the team in Cory Evans, who played at Northern Durham. Carver lost at Division II power Georgia College 122-74 on Thursday night, while its only game so far this season against a Division I foe was the 77-53 defeat on Nov. 17 at Georgia State.

C.J. Wilkerson (pictured) leads the Eagles in both scoring and assists.

NCCU’s next game after tonight is also at home, against Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 16.
