North Carolina improved its record to 1-2 in the ACC (11-5 overall) on Saturday, defeating Florida State in Tallahassee. The Tar Heels received timely play from sophomore P.J. Hairston (23 points) and, surprisingly, rarely-used forward Jackson Simmons, who contributed tough defense and eight points on three-for-three shooting.
I’ll have much more to say about this game later in the week, as the Tar Heels don’t play again until next Saturday. Clearly, UNC has needed to get its act together, and perhaps Saturday finally will mark a new trajectory for the team. Click here to view the UNC/FSU box score.
