UNC will be going to a bowl game this season, something that’s assured since the Tar Heels have a 6-4 record (2-4 ACC).

And tonight at 8, Everett Withers’ club gets a say in just how prestigious that bowl trip will be.
The Tar Heels will be at Lane Stadium to take on No. 9 Virginia Tech (9-1, 5-1), which is looking to take a big step toward a Coastal Division title.
The Hokies, 10 1/2-point favorites, lead the series 17-10-6. Tech won 26-10 last season in Chapel Hill, but the Tar Heels won 20-17 in Blacksburg on a Thursday night in 2009.
“I think we had a good bye week and got a good start on Virginia Tech as far as base game plan,” Withers said. “It’s always a fun thing for college kids to play on Thursday night in front of all of their peers. So we’re looking forward to it. We think it will be a tough, physical ball game.
“Usually the team that doesn’t turn it over has the opportunity to win the game. The team that plays good on special teams. So we’re looking forward to the ball game and looking for a tough match-up.”
